Calling Kayla's Bluff!

Lately Kayla has been arguing for the sake of arguing. I don't understand it but it is a phase she is in right now. I REFUSE to argue. Yesterday was picture day at school and she told me on Wed. that she wanted her hair in a Cinderella bun for the pics. I told her I'd love to do that. So Thursday came and I was doing her hair. Kayla tells me (while I'm doing her hair) that she doesn't want her hair done. I am smarter then this so I called her on it and said "OK. That's fine with me." Of course she changed her mind and asked me to do a Cinderella bun on her hair. I agreed as long as she didn't complain and gave me a huge smile. She is learning that I'll do almost anything when you ask with a smile and cheerful voice. So today came around and I had Eliza Dunning and Bella Ramos over to play before kindergarten. Kayla wanted me to do matching hair styles again. She wanted everybody to have a Cinderella bun. Sounded fun to me! I did Bella's hair first, then it was Kayla's turn. Kayla wined "I don't want you to do my hair! I just want it plain!" I said "Really. That's fine with me. You can go to school with your hair plain." Of course she just wanted me to argue with her and she really did want her hair done. I did it. I have decided though that next time I'll warn her and say something like "Be careful what you say or complain about because I won't let you change your mind." If she goes to church with plain hair one of these days you will understand why. Sunday is the only day of the week I don't let my girls have a major say in how their hair is done. Usually it's "my turn to choose". I know Kayla LOVES and TOTALLY CARES about looking pretty. If I call her bluff on a Sunday she'll definitely learn her lesson........even if it breaks my heart to do it. It's one thing to have a sincere complaint....but to complain and wine just to make my job harder......FORGET THAT! I love my children and I'm glad they give me the opportunity to "practice self control" and better myself as a person. I mean that seriously. I am so glad I am a Mom! There is no better way to grow my heart and more fully understand unconditional love.

Double click this pic to see details of her hair. I miss my girls long hair. BUT, they take a shower together by themselves and do a great job. The hair cut served it's purpose and hopefull will not have to happen again any time soon.
Ballerina bun.Heidi with her hair down in all it's shiny long glory. She is so beautiful.

Example #1 of why I would fail as a parent, lol. I sure hope patience comes with children. I guess I shouldn't pray for it, because then I'll get children, right Becky? I know I've said this many times Krista, but you're just such a cute mom!

Krista, that just reminds me of Kelsey at that age. She would do things like that too but when you call her on it she's like "oh, that's not how mom is supposed to react. I wanted a fight. She's a little smarty pants. Good thing her mom is even smarter.

First of all I LOVE the new picture you have at the top of your blog! Stunning!! You ought to have that one framed in your home.
Your girls are indeed beautiful. I especially love the picture of Kayla wearing black with the green background.
